About:
Duncan has had over thirty years of design experience, graduating from RMIT with Honours in 1991. He has been building a wide range of projects, and been involved in a variety of practices from his own sole practitioner consultancy, to contract work for large private and government organisations. He has also tutored & lectured in landscape architecture and urban design at QUT, RMIT & UNSW. As well he has guest lectured at the Salon of Urban Architecture in Florence, and the School of Architecture at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.
Duncan has conducted two intensive study tours of the works of the Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa, the Florentine landscape architect Pietro Porcinai, and included the works of numerous other Italian architecture and landscape architecture luminaries in October 2023 and in May/June 2025; this last tour being partly funded by a world renowned contemporary architect.
Practice locations have varied from Ames, Iowa (USA), Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Qatar and the Gold Coast / Northern NSW region. He has written a number of pieces for magazines and journals, and has been featured in Houses Magazine for the Holocene House in Manly.
Duncan's Instagram account is a digital library of Modernist design, with a particular focus on the works of Carlo Scarpa. His photographs of the world renowned Villa Il Palezzetto in Monselice (just south of Venice) have been exhibited in a show called 'Projekt: Domov' curated by Adam Štěch in the Dům umění (House of Art) at the Jana Evangelista Purkyně University in Labem, in the Czech Republic.
Duncan is currently writing a volume on Carlo Scarpa, a book long requested by his followers in Instagram, and hopes to make an announcement regarding its publication in the next six to twelve months from now. (August 2025)
