A sense of craft - the ability to know how things can be shaped and put together - pervades everything Duncan does. This is exemplified in his timber joinery where exacting standards are maintained to produce beautiful work. A big stockpile of naturally seasoned, native Northern NSW timbers can be drawn upon to build specific items for interior projects.

Tool Making: A Woodworker's Slick
A slick is a large paring chisel that can be used to remove waste quickly and in quantity, or as a very steady tool to make very fine adjustments to joins because of its weight. This slick was made from a truck leaf spring which was cut to shape, had it's edge ground down, the tang softened to drill and tap the bolt holes to attach the handle and its tool edge hardened, tempered, honed and its back linished and honed flat. The handle is from Spotted Gum and finished with a linseed oil/gum turps varnish wiped on.
